Northumbria Shawl Knitting Pattern
A stunning shawl with zigzag stripes of delicate lace. Worked from the centre outwards to make it perfectly symmetrical. Knitted in a luxurious alpaca blend yarn, this will certainly keep you feeling cosy as well as looking fabulous. This would work just as well as a beautiful everyday scarf as it would as a breathtaking wrap over an evening dress.
Yarn: John Arbon Textiles UK Alpaca Lace, 1 skein = 600m/656 yards.
Colourway Damson – Dusky Plum.
Dimensions: 11” wide and 68” long.
Needles: 3.5mm/US 4 circular needle.
Gauge: 28 sts x 34 rows = 4” in stocking stitch after blocking.
Extras: Crochet hook and waste yarn in a contrasting colour for provisional cast on, tapestry needle for weaving in loose ends, mat and t-pins for blocking.
Skills You will need to work lace stitches on the right side and wrong side, work a provisional crochet cast on, and work a lace bindoff.
